Gary, aka Zonker |
My real name is Gary Tompkins, but
I've been known as Zonker in Montreal BBS circles for many years. The
alias actually began while playing NTN Trivia in a bar even before I started BBSing in
1990. We were just picking names from Doonesbury, Phred was already taken, and Zonker
stuck! [grin] I ran an old fashioned free BBS in Montreal called "The
Crypt" for years, it finally went down in 2007. You can e-mail
me on the net. I moved in 2000, e-mail me for my new address or phone number if
you'd like it. I'm also a cat lover, and here's my Babe! |
Click here to read about what I've been up to lately. Well, maybe not lately, I don't update it that often. (Zonker's Online Journal) My blog at MySpace might be more up to date (or might not be!). Search for me on Facebook. |
After many years in the plumbing and heating industry in Montreal, I now work at John Abbott College, located just west of Montreal in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec. | |
I have also worked for the United Church of Canada as a professional Youth
Worker and continue to do volunteer youth and church work. |
Youth and church work
I've been leading youth groups and doing other youth work for over thirty years, it keeps me young at heart! Lately I've been working with the youth at Trinity United Church, where I'm now teaching a senior Sunday School class and confirmation and helping to lead the youth group. The old youth group webpage is here, lots of pictures that haven't made it to Trinity's new site yet. Here are some pictures of the youth group I used to lead at Verdun United Church.
